

Givenchy boutique hotel will be located at Palm Spring, CA. According to the brand element along with Palm Spring culture, the hotel design is based on the concept of Dark romanticism , which is a combination of the location and the brand. The target demographics are from age 20 to45 couples or single, they are wealthy and enjoy luxurious life styles. They love to spend valuable time with their love one in a dark romantic space with a sense of mysterious . They protect each other and cherish every single moment they spent in here. ​

Brand Research
The design concept dark romanticism is inspired by the brand style. Most commonly when the lights turn off, the space is dark; When you got sick, make mistakes or broke up with somebody you may feel dark as well. Romantic is quite a familiar words for me it is an unexpected and exciting way to express your love to someone. Dark romanticism contain a sense
of surprising and hidden of beauty. Like the rose, it is very stab but the petals are surrounding the others and embrace it. So dark romanticism also contains protect in the dark.
Form Development


Inspire by the curve and layers of rose, I played around the form development with the paper. I was trying to transfer the concept into space design: Embrace, protect and some space opens up and lead to an unexpected place.
Site Analysis

LA is a quiet romantic place that is perfect for couples especially some places such as palm spring. In the back site of the original building, there is good mountain view. There is a good opportunity to put the balcony and swimming pool here.Because Palm spring is in the desert area which is always dry and hot. So I did a sun study to figure out which parts get direct sunlight and which parts is cooler. From the site analysis block scale. I nd that there is lot of restaurants around this area but not many hotel.So it is a good opportunity to design a boutique hotel here.
